What's worse than bad football? Even more badder announcing

It’s halftime of the epic UNC-Wake Forest showdown. UNC is down 17-3, and the football landscape has shifted so wildly in the past few years that I’m no longer upset that the Tar Heels are losing to the Demon Deacons. We live in a world where Wake Forest is the incumbent ACC champions, and UNC stands at only 2-5 on the year. Crazy world. Up is down. Day is night. K-Fed is a great dad.

XM Radio finally starts to give us fair warning on Channel 21

As I’ve mentioned before – here, here and here – XM Radio has played some interesting music on channel 21, KISS (”Fresh Hits of Pop, Rock and Rhythm”). For a long time, my primary complaint is that they would go from a recent song by Justin Timberlake and segue directly into something like Nenah Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance (actual song recently heard on channel 21).

The return of "Baby Please" music?

One of my favorite songs currently on the charts is Elliott Yamin’s tune “Wait for You.” It’s a catchy tune, especially from an American Idol contestant. This guy lost to Taylor Hicks? Um, there’s nothing more I need to know about Idol. Any show that chooses Taylor over Elliott is, scientifically speaking, batshit insane.

Random thoughts from fandom: Recap of the Miami-UNC game

In 2004, UNC hosted Miami and pulled off a great upset and beat the vaunted Hurricanes at Kenan Stadium. As a season ticket holder for UNC football since 2000, I had tickets to that 2004 game, but I decided not to go. Why? I had a business trip the following day. I missed probably the greatest upset in my alma mater’s history. Dumb call? What do you think?

Sweet monkey pie, I HATE Dancing with the Stars

Since my son is totally a servant of the Walt Disney Company, he is well versed in the Cheetah Girls, a made-for-TV girl group that’s been the subject of two movies thus far. Think En Vogue meets the Osmonds. So, when Dancing with the Stars premiered last week with Sabrina Bryan, one of the Cheetah Girls, as a contestant, my 5-year-old became a DWTS fan.
