To Rodger at O'Sheas, the Bhuddist Monk and David Hasselhoff: thanks for the Vegas memories

During my last post, I mentioned that although seeing sweet, sweet Eva Longoria was the high point of my most recent trip to Vegas, it was by no means the only memorable event of the week. So, here’s a run down of other sights and sounds from Vegas:

That headline got you, huh? Well, I went to Vegas last week with 200,000 of my closest friends — apparently, I have friends from SoCal who are either gang-bangers, thugs, ne’er-do-wells or straight-up ganstas who wanted to go to the 2007 NBA All-Star game. OK, technically, I wasn’t there for the game (IT tradeshow in the house — can I get a what what!). But, I technically did have dinner with Eva Longoria at Spagos last Sunday night.

A message for UNC students from an alumus: Here's your sign

A quick note for any UNC students that might ever read this blog. I have a sign for you to make for the Dook game coming up on March 4. Take if from your Uncle Pieman… it’ll be a good one. It’s pretty easy to make and a direct response to a sign held aloft by an arrogant Jersey-ite in Durham last week.

Fractured wrist… cracked rib… it's broomball, the corporate edition

Last Friday, my company completed its annual kick-off meeting with a “Fun Day” event at a local ice rink. The whole company (well, about 50 of our 80 or so) was going to play a spirited game of broomball, which is akin to hockey except you wear tennis shoes and use a broom-like implement to sweep a ball on the ice towards a goal. It is, in the words of a teammate, an event that’s just “begging for injuries.”

What we learned from tonight's UNC-Duke game

Nice win for the Tar Heels tonight taking out the Dookies 79-73. But, what the action on the court couldn’t hold a candle to the knowledge that Billy Packer and his wingman, Tim Brando were dropping for CBS Sports.

From Saved by the Bell to High School Musical: one degree of separation

In my last post, I described how High School Musical (HSM) is taking the grand tradition of Saved by the Bell, adding some music and jazzing it up. Granted, I don’t believe any teen dramatic performance will ever be as stunningly craptacular as Saved by the Bell (SBTB). But, HSM is moderately enjoyable, even though it lacks a certain something… like the comedic stylings of Screech or the horrid acting skills of Elizabeth Berkeley.
