Not a dry eye in the house

For the last 16 years, I’ve worn contacts on and off to compensate for my mild myopia. Usually, I have no problem with the little buggers, but for the past few years, the pollen season in North Carolina has gotten the best of me. Don't call it a comeback. OK, it's a comeback.

I’d like to say the Sweet Monkey Pie went down over the past week for a fun reason. Maybe the “ultra-orthodox sex commandos” who have been lurking thought that my site was some form of Internet porn. Perhaps we had too many hits, and the server crashed. Coulda been a vast right-wing conspiracy. Any of those would be cool.

The NBA is in that long stretch of meaningless games that blend into the same highlight reel on SportsCenter (first team gets out to a big lead — dunk, dunk, 3-pointer — second team comes back — block, 3-pointer, 3-pointer — first team puts the game away — dunk, dunk, scrub shooting a 3 — ad infinitum).
